Quite some time ago, I asked K for his own résumé for future use. He thought about it for a bit, and wrote “I like to draw sketches with pens. Some of my works show a certain presentation of muscular texture as well as a negative, dark vibe. Most of the time, there are no raw sketches for my works, nor do I have a vivid idea of what I’m drawing during the creative process. My drawing is basically a visual presentation of my subjective and subconscious thoughts.”
I met K back in 08 during one of our Live Arts Nights, at the tail end of our time at the last Wombbloc location. There was that slow, yet confident vibe while he drew. It was obvious that, from the early on, that we had a talented individual in the house. His drawing showed no sign of his tender age of 19 at the time. Well, people say age ain’t nothing but a number, and it shows here.
Now K is an active member of team Wombbloc Arts, trying to balance that and his English major status in school. K’s style is dark, textural and organic, which is shown through his works despite the obvious differences in techniques and inspirations. And K is not someone who settles on a particular style for too long. He’s always out to try something new, exploring limits and boundaries and going forward artistically.
We are proud to present K’s solo exhibition at the new and improved Wombbloc Arts.
