He finished his BFA from Kala Bhavan, Vishwabharati University, Shantiniketan and his MFA (distinction) from Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda in 1999. Pani's list of group shows include ‘Indian Art show ‘ organized by Gallery Espace and Ganges Art Gallery, at Cork street, London in 2007, ‘Made In India’ Exhibition of prints,at Gallery Gauche, Paris in 1999, and group exhibition of paintings, Gallery Art Core at Baroda in 2001. His solo exhibitions include ‘Boy Dancer’ at the Convergence and Continuum, Gallery Espace, New Delhi in 2007 and ‘Risk’, The Double Edge of Society at Gallery Espace, New Delhi in 2007. Birendra Pani also has many awards and scholarships like the Lalit Kala Academy Award from Bhubaneswar, Orissa which he won in 2001 and Vishwabharti University merit Scholarship, Santiniketan, to his credit.
