Japan Photographer “SUGIURA Masakazu” was born in Kyoto, loves in taking black and white prints. These photographs were mainly taken when the people were sparse, between sunrise and early morning as well as on rainy days.
The cherry blossoms (sakura) usually bloom in the last week of March and the first two weeks of April in Kyoto.
The cherry blossoms is in full bloom in about seven days after flowering and then the peak bloom period is five or six days. It takes about two weeks from flowering to falling. They burst into bloom then fall fleetingly and gracefully. It is important parts of the reason why Japanese people love cherry blossoms.
As Sugiura’s comments, these from flowering to falling become a metaphor for both Life and Death in the Japanese mind, and these concepts are not mutually antagonistic.
