Imura art gallery kyoto proudly presents "Digesting Decoration", a solo exhibition of Satoshi SOMEYA.
So far, his painted molding that emphasize the curves of animal and human body. He uses the traditional dry-lacquer to express his work. He draws his pattern by using decorative ways of Japanese lacquer which is Makie or Raden. Though this use of Japanese lacquer art is to produce what one calls decoratiove expression. In this exhibition, you can see the development of "use" in a decoration form. "Use" is not only for function like a container or a lidded pottery, but "Use" is also a meaning of expression which exists between the object and human heart. He reconstructs decorating expression with his playful mind through stone, dry leaves, fragment of concrete, rusty iron, and chips of wood which are selected in his daily life.
