As the autumnal hues delicately flourish and December rolls around with celebrations, Mulan Gallery would like to take this opportunity to commemorate the holiday season with a colourful mix to mark the end of year festive season. It will feature a flamboyant selection of works by our guest artist, Iskandar Jalil, together with local and overseas artists.

Hii Shiew Eng's canvases are filled with arresting portraits of pre-pubescent children. Their ambiguous looks are taken from candid photographs and painted with a garnish light. Her paintings speak about our culture of passive seeing, the compulsions inscribed by gender and the more insidious perversions that exists.

Kaz Orii's abstract expressions portrays the likeness of satellite-photo images of Urban Cities superimposed with tranquil shades from a palette inspired by Japan's very own nature reserves and its seasonal harmony of colors. He taps inspirations from his experiences and his vivid love for nature.

Liew Sonny paints with a comic humor in his canvas work. He explores the tensions between private and public identities, social divides and the language of public discourse in Singapore, in a series of narrative paintings utilizing comic book tropes and conventions.

Detailing works of nature with pencil and variations of shading, Thailand’s Piyatida Pirakanta endeavors to expand her contribution to mother nature through the craft of etching.

Soh Ee Shaun is a self-taught Singaporean artist and illustrator. His artistic spheres are experiments in abstraction, humor and improvisation. The aesthetics of his oeuvres are inspired and influenced largely by surrealism and illusion in his subconscious.
