Lim Shengen’s creative journey and training initiated in architectural training, diverging naturally towards the visual fine arts during his time as an apprentice fashion photographer. As a young artist, Shengen is an active participant in the local art scene. He experiments in the medium of painting, photography and installation, exploring urban conditions and landscapes. His exhibitions include The Citylink Tickleart series – Void: Physical, Metaphysical 2008, Beast, Beauty and Breast – a Southeast Asian contemporary art exhibition 2008, Made In Singapore – 100% Singaporean Made and Owned’ 2006.
He was awarded the NAC Georgette Chen Award in 2006 and Juror's choice for his painting at the Philip Morris Singapore Art Awards 2005. Shengen has since appeared the media articles such as Channel News Asia 2008, The New Paper 2008, Singapore Tatler 2007, Show Magazine 2007, Asian Art News 2006 and Straits Times – Life 2005. Shengen graduated with BA (Hon) in Fine Arts from LASALLE College of the Art, validated by the Open University, UK.
