Intruder
by Indigo Blue Art
Location: Gallery One
Artist(s): Vibha GALHOTRA
Date: 2 Sep - 30 Sep 2010

For the first time, artists Vibha Galhotra and Ketna Patel will come together in a uniquely curated group exhibition, to present a series of seemingly diverse works that are devised to encourage an involved dialogue between viewer and artist.

Indigo Blue Art curates exhibitions which highlight the breadth and diversity of Indian art. Our collection covers various forms from naive folk and tribal art, high caliber works by the fabled masters and senior artists, to the talented work emerging in India today. We aim to provide a historical context whilst reflecting on important trends in Contemporary India Art.

And in our continuing passion to create a wider audience for India Art, we bring to you a diverse exhibition showcasing two artists who share the same passion but produce contrasting work. Our events provide a unique insight into the artist's world, serving to stimulate an exchange of ideas and allow for engagement with the work on many different levels.

Vibha Galhotra's first solo exhibition in Singapore, "Intruder" comprises a collection of 10 new digital prints on canvas. Using photography, sculptures, wall texts and props, this body of work aims to recreate the empty and desolate being of the day after terror.

This series of staged photographs, shot in "old city" locations around the world, addresses the experience of fear and abandonment one encounters in a once secure neighbourhood that has turned into deserted space caused by an act of terror.

Through the medium of photography, Vibha documents the silence and void created in such spaces and questions the sense of security we have today. She sees herself as an "intruder" in such spaces, as she becomes the instrument surveying, with her camera, and she has chosen to do so, in a manner that successfully implicates the viewer as an "intruder" too.
