Date: 9 Jun - 30 Jun 2011

Indigo Blue Art (IBA) is pNased to present Back Channel. Nitish Bhattachanee's first solo exhibition in Singapore.

Currently based in Mumbai, Nitish explains that he reveals components of his inner emotional self through his ad practices. This is a result of his panting process which he descrbes as )spontaneous" and one that delves deeply into his subconscious.

"Each painting is like an unplanned documentation of my personal experiences. This is hovy I internalise and communicate my emotions through Ad In the same way. I am interested in how and what people feel as they go about their daily lives. For this series, I have focused on the hidden - that which is not expressed explicitly, but still communicated through other covert ways".

Using the human psyche as a metaphor of this exhibitio, Ngish explores the activity of conveying and exchanging information that circumvents usual procedures. He explains )1 am interested in the literal and metaphorical act of concealment, especially in the subconscious mi.. Certainly. what is being concealed is more flash flat than Chats visible). He cites the coved methods used whilst exchanging sensitive information in politics as an example.

His canvases are filled with bursts of colour that are delivered in bold. uninhibited brush strokes. These strong brush spokes are visually balanced by flattened. angular patches of colour panels. which are infused in his oreatens in a rhythmic manner. Using an impasto technique, Ilibsh layers his canvas with intensity and richness that gives his works a tridimensional apd textured annearanco.

His meticulous style and energetic execution exudes a refreshing and exhilarating feel. and beyond the veil of myriad hues and layers, Nitish imperceptibly reveals the human soul.
