Travel Bug
by Chan Hampe Galleries Raffles Hotel Arcade
Location: Chan Hampe Galleries Raffles Hotel Arcade
Artist(s): Jake DAVIES
Date: 12 Nov - 26 Nov 2012

Chan Hampe Galleries is delighted to present "Travel Bug" - a solo exhibition by Jake Davies. In this exhibition Jake considers the concept of the "travel bug". While the term typically refers to someone with the inclination to travel often, the artist, a well-experienced traveler himself, considers how important it is to be culturally aware and adaptable to your surroundings when traveling, much like a bug or virus. Morphing to take on the mannerism and customs of a new country is often not only the best way to fit in but sometimes the best way to survive. Jake's work is a fantastical and brightly colored bricolage of words and objects in acrylic and ink, images and lessons from his time living and visiting countries across the globe.

About the Artist

Jake's family still lives in Singapore and he continues to visit regularly. He grew up in six different countries, and has travelled extensively. This is his first solo exhibition.
