SHIFT Show 2012
by Johyun Gallery
Location: Johyun Gallery Seoul
Artist(s): Zik Seong JEONG, Philippe COGNéE, Sungsoo KIM
Date: 18 Sep - 31 Oct 2012

Sungsoo Kim
Revealing empty eyes and topor against a background of glow city, 'Metallica' series shows the glamour of mega city and deficiency and gloom of ruined and isolated human spirits at the same time. By material wants, people put up a good front, but feel emptiness. Through his works, audience will look back inner side of our society.

Zik-Seong Jueong
Inspired by many spots in Seoul, the artist focuses on principle and speed of how a space can be made. Interesting in a city connects to a machine. She reconstituted a scene as finding order in a complicated and disorder residential street, and created dynamic moves of a massive machine. As the artist shows inner power of pure painting, line, colour and shape appear composure.

Philippe Cognée
Philippe Cognée is represent artist in New Figuration since early 1980's in Europe. He ponders how to reflect a heritage of long painting history on his painting and paints images telling the modern society with his unique encaustic technique.
In the 'Googld' series, based on images of cities from the website - earth.googld.com -, he expressed high-density city from a view of satellite. A solid component and sense of volume give new reality to informatinalized satellite images.
