by Hakgojae Gallery
Location: Hakgojae Gallery
Artist(s): In Ah CHUN
Date: 6 Dec - 29 Dec 2013

Hakgojae is pleased to open a solo exhibition of In Ah Chun. In this time, including 46 works of 'Shell of Stock' series, abstract painting showing liquid and dividing existences like cell, 37 works of '2013 Matrix series' will be featured. '2013 Matrix series' is based on movement of a bird which reveals freedom and dynamics.

Matrix she has covered as a theme since 2007 means root or birthplace of creation, and human body, bird, fish, or shell in her work is a metaphor to this. As harmonizing and spreading out natural objects on a scene, the artist makes each work create one story together.

'Shell of Stock' series looks like a shell mound as a title says, and various traces from repeatedly erasing are similar with one on parchment paper. Through several correction, modification and elimination, there are various viewpoints and sense of space. Use of organic curves, feminine icons and a margin in eclectic color harmonizing a background and an object emphasize femininity.

'2013 Matrix' series even highlight a shape of a bird and is based upon movement of nature and bird, which represents freedom as well as a helper of a person in myth. The bird in her work is not only ambiguous, but also has epicene characteristic. The artist tries to find a beauty of concealment and secrecy. Also, emphasis of a margin has a role to lead feminine character with round shapes, colors in permeant texture.
