HONG Buhm was born in Seoul, in 1970. Hong graduated from the College of Fine Arts, Hong-ik University, majoring industrial design, and received his MFAs for “Computer Art” and “Photography, video and related media” from the School of Visual Art (SVA) in New York. Since he frequently moved to new neighborhood when he was young, he happened to possess various memories on houses and take interests in new space. Such interests has led him to concentrate on understanding how imagination, personal memories and knowledge interact in the process of recognizing a space. Hong then tries to understand how those new spaces are fully recognized and accepted. Until 2000, he had worked in the design field, but from 2001, he focused more on artistic activities, studying video in SVA, New York. Since 2006, Hong has been working from Korea and the United States.
