SEO Jihyoung was born in Seoul, in 1978. She graduated from the College of Fine Arts, Hong-ik University and its graduate school, majoring in sculpture. Seo has concentrated on “memories” as a theme of her works, using the material that she used to play with in her childhood. The artist believes that life is about consistently recalling memories and presents the close relationship between the present and “selected memories” with her works. Narratives in her works are just like a child’s picture diary or a piece of essay. Seo held a solo exhibition “Emotional Memories” in 2009, and participated in duo exhibitions at 123 Gallery and Chong-gye Art Studio and many group exhibitions held at the Ilmin Museum of Art, Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art, Insa Art Center, Interalia Art Company, etc.
