Hyung Koo Kang is known as the best Asian artist, who expresses symbolic representation of large-scale portraits in contemporary art. Symbolic icon of the age, such as Audrey Hepburn or Andy Warhol, is recreated as new type of person by Kang with deep eyes and exaggerated and extended depiction. Especially, Marilyn Monroe's life has affected on him and become a plentiful source of inspiration. Kang has collected massive materials about her from all over the world for 20 years to create works of Marilyn Monroe. Celebrities he draws are a byword for the age and certain values. However, Marilyn drawn by Kang has various expressions revealing the inner world as the icon of the age and a person.
The exhibition will introduce his collection of Monroe including film, photograph, poster, book and voice file as well as artworks of her.
