The artist Shin Hye Kim works based on culture of consumption in the contemporary society. Her painting is derived from various techniques and concept of Oriental painting. Blank, the important characteristic of it also provides the clear view. Repeated coloring on traditional paper with natural ink enhances completeness, and delivers fresh scent like a tea.
As bringing the image of product to her work, she tells microscopic aspect of a change of our daily life and consciousness by consumer society. Bottles she selected are not meaningless but it is a kind of a bowl to contain the nature. The artist talks about our life of today through the landscape where the nature and the disposable bottle coexist. Without a real experience on the nature, we can feel and remember that through consuming products and images ironically. In that sense, the water bottle is the best choice to her.
The works on this exhibition are an extension of the previous exhibition 'The 3rd landscape'. The most significant characteristic is that a motif from traditional Oriental painting in the product doubles intellectual enjoyment. As overlapping the ideal image in the traditional painting with different material, the bottle, the landscape becomes more lively, brighter and warmer. The image of the world by the products and landscape painting is not where filling with problems by consumption, but the images of tradition and present coexist pleasantly.
