Date: 28 May - 6 Jul 2013
Yong Wook Yun's work comprised of thousands of small plastic fragments in two-dimensional leads to reconsidering a value of 'Light' as a secondary material, which supports an optical truth of art work. In his work, light is an essential element, which means that light arouses a form and colors through reflection and physical contact with paints.
As a painter controls gradation to express a shadow, a form of his work is decided by a strength and position of light and a mix of each plastic piece. According to such an external property of matter and characteristic, the audience can focus on it as changing a view.
Light in his work performs a same role as lines and colored side different with adjacent one in a common painting. The plastic pieces responding to light reflect its source and quantity and reply to a characteristic of a space sensitively. Also, each piece carries out a role like a palette as adding a visual effect made by an original color and controls a way the describe image showed ingeniously.
In the new exhibition 'Studying Light', 10 new works, a study of interaction with image and active intervention of light, will be exhibited.
