Photographer Julien Spiewak has covered his interest in antique furniture as visiting the furniture shops in Paris since 2005. The category of his interest does not just stay in esthetic taste. His photograph looks at the old furniture closely and extends a meaning of it as bringing a space where it is placed in and surrounding objets. For example, he directs behind stories, such as historicity of decorative art, the style of the furniture, and the touch of a meter craftsman. A part of body placed in the right position creates fantastic narration. Like forearm like a curtain rail or body between clothes in a closet, these body sculptures make photograph rhythmical as well as bring extended meaning, such as a relationship with environment or temporality.
For 'Corps de style' series, Spiewak works on room landscape of romanticism museum in Pari, where antique furnitures used by royal families in 17th to 18th centuries, and old sculptures since 2012. Unlike previous works, recent works using museum collection and its landscape directly request romantic trend and artistry of photograph.
