Gana Art Busan is pleased to announce Hwan-Kwon Yi solo exhibition 'Scenes from the Ordinary Days' . Hwan-Kwon Yi has interested in works by pressing or enlarging since late 1990s. To express his desire for getting into a screen, he has researched digitalized works using the computer. Meanwhile, as 3D scanner and CNC programs help to work more freely, he has worked unique sculptures. This distorted sculpture makes viewers feel dizzy, recall the past, and have an illusion like they are in the screen. His sculpture exists in conflict between people's memory and awareness.
This exhibitions will show the new works 'public series' as well as most popular one 'The movie series', and be a chance to meet his artworks in Busan primally.
Movie series is started from the movies he has watched with effect since 2009. It is done by complicated process. To recreate moves of object, time flows, and space around object which can't be showed in 2D movie, he edited so many different scenes and created convincing solid. This series is already well-know in other countries, and anyone can satisfy its popular appeal and literary value. Also, his new series has the clear finality to be used in public facilities.
"Usual thing looks just ordinarily even though it has something special. So no one knows whether it is special or not. That is why mediocrity is to be special." by Hwan-Kwon Yi
