Korean Art Show returns for its second year from March 3rd in Soho, New York – the root of art and culture. Hosted by the Galleries Association of Korea, Korean Art Show has invited over thirty galleries including Gallery Sun Contemporary featuring works of around 150 Korean artists. This year Korean Art Show commences in the midst of New York art fair week along with the Armory Show and Scope. Moreover as for promotion, we anticipate a booming outcome for the show will be sharing the same venue as the Red Dot Art Fair.
This year at the Korean Art Show, Gallery Sun Contemporary presents Koh Sang Woo’s solo project. Koh will be presenting 10 pieces of work including works of the Ballerina from China as his model. His dynamic photographs with ever more delicate texture and color offer a physical and psychological freedom and the dilemma and courage we undergo to preserve them. Based in New York, Koh travels to Asia and Europe actively participating in various art happenings. Last year he was invited by Design Korea to participate in the Hannam Residency program and right after his solo exhibition at the Cat Street Gallery in March, Gallery Sun Contemporary will be presenting Koh’s solo exhibition in April. Throughout the artist’s oeuvre, painting and performance has been functioning as part of the work’s component and moreover, the pluralism in both technique and narrative in Koh’s work allows him to receive attention from various art scenes.
