Gallery Sun Contemporary is delightful to present the new exhibition 'Tears of Falling Blossom' by Sang Hyun Lee, who works photo collage and video about realistic or fictional aspects in the current society.
Sang Hyun Lee blends artificially created images of imagination on old monochrome photo with historical case or Korean traditional painting. However, it's hard to say that existing documentary photo or other photo works he uses present the fact. Added images are also not perfect fiction to mirror the reality. Like this, the artist builds the world of imagination as fusing unclear elements together.
Not only visual factors, but hidden allegory inside is also very interesting. For example, the North Korean People's army wearing a luxury brand badge, a symbol of capitalism, shows that they are also a person who has a desire, whether it is arbitrary or not. Beyond his dream, ideal and reality or past and present, the artist creates fiction like the reality and vice versa. His work is like a process to find a hidden truth. But whether the reality is real, or the truth without fiction can do a role, the answers for these questions are the audience's.
