Liam Gillick is an initial member of YBA (Young British Artists) in 1990s and has developed British contemporary art with Demian Hirst and Sarah Lucas. In short, Gillick's work is 'Making life a way of arts (by Gillick, it means reality of ideal and humane social life). He works based on minimal art, colorfield painting and op art, and as developing it in more complex way, Gillick realizes 'relational art' advocated by Nicolas Bourriaud.
In TARO NASU, he has held a solo exhibition in 2011 and this is the second one. 10 new works including wall text, flatform and solid artworks will be on display and it is the first time to announce new works at the gallery in Japan. His works make his ideal realize, coexist of society and arts, and a way to visualize a psychological bridge between them. His exhibition raises a question for universal and contemporary issue, how people living in supercapitalism create a society in the future.
