Taro Okamoto Solo Exhibition
by Tomio Koyama Gallery Tokyo
Location: 8/ ART GALLERY/ Tomio Koyama Gallery
Artist(s): Taro OKAMAOTO
Date: 10 Apr - 29 Apr 2013

From painting, sculpture, public art and product design to writing, the pioneer of Japanese contemporary art Taro Okamoto, also known for the prodigious mural in Shibuya station "Myth of Tomorrow", has created a wide range of works, which still continue to have a great influence on us today.

After 1970, faces and eyes frequently appear in his work as holes connecting humans with the universe, as if the eyes in the work and those of Taro himself have beenunified and represented here as one. As the first of a series of exhibitions to mark the first anniversary of Hikarie, approximately 30 lithographs and etchings featuring faces and eyes as motifs will be exhibited. Please enjoy the print art of Taro Okamoto which expresses the core of his thinking, "Art is for the public".
