ZOKUSHIN is strange world. It is a rejected of that mode of representing the preset, epitomized by color TV, which is bent on squeezing as much information into the same time and space as possible, with a mixture of action, color and sound. In contrast to this world of color TV, black-and-white stills have a veritable folk quality. The photographs in this collection are clearly an affirmation of the folk quality and a rejection of the color TV world. Furthermore, an age of amateur picture-takers, making for a situation where photographers vie feverishly with one another to come up with the novel- novel subject matter, novel composition-in order to get ahead. Tsuchida Hiromi would return once again to this original, long forgotten, experience.
