It is a film festival organized by "WAWA project http://wawa.or.jp/en/" (Organizer: General Non-Profit Incorporated Artistic Organization Command N) that was initiated in 3331 Arts Chiyoda as a platform for the reconstruction projects for the Great East Japan Earthquake. We are screening a total of 32 documentary films about the Great East Japan Earthquake, which portrays different stories that were captured through the unique perspective of the directors, such as the story of the people who are working towards the reconstruction in various ways, of the people who are gravely affected by the Fukushima nuclear accident, and so on. During the 22 days of the festival, we are screening 2 to 3 films a day, along with a number of talk events by the directors, the actors and the people who work in the reconstruction.
Throughout the festival, we have in store at 3331 CUBE shop&gallery various products from "WAWAYA shop" that support the reconstruction projects. In addition, next to the screening hall, at Room 103, we will exhibit the works of George Rousse Art Project in Miyagi (Free Admission).
Through 3.11 Film Festival, we wish to revisit the memories of the Great East Japan Earthquake that are fading away, and by looking toward the disaster-stricken area that are working towards the recovery with our individual thoughts in mind, we wish that the new realization and the sense of value will lead us to the affluent future. Entering into the 4th year since the Great East Japan Earthquake, we are facing a new phase. We would be happy if we could share the questions and the realities that are brought up in the films.
