The wardrobe and the mattress by Smiljan Radic and Marcela Correa
by Maison Hermès 8th Floor
Location: Maison Hermes 8th Floor
Date: 4 Sep - 30 Nov 2013

Smiljan Radic is a noted architect in Chile, where shows innovative aspect in contemporary architecture. Radic focuses on material and environment as well as has announced sculpture and video work collaborating with Marcela Correa, Chilean architect. Like a circus tent showing up on the street, he suggests philosophical study on nomadic environment and living, suc as simple temporary building or hiding place in a short-term.

In this exhibition, Radic shows art work expressing a site of memory with a concept, closet and mattress.

Closet embraces our things, past and memories. There are clothes inside with owner's memory as a part of body. Mattress accepts all moves of a person flexibly, and bring to the another world, dream.

Oversized closet, and a piece of mattress formed by a memory. Such mysterious action rouses forgotten memory so that makes us think of a visualized moment of it. As transforming time making the reality through those two furnitures, Radic and Coreea shows it on a stage.

With installation above, the photo series 'Fragile Construction' are on display.
