After the Japan-US Security Treaty in 1960 and the post-war society for 30 years, culture has had extremely far-reaching change. In terms of art, a concept of traditional one has been changed and new stand alone expression realm was needed with Yomiuri Independent Exhibition as a momentum. Yoshinaka joined Nikakai∘Kyu-shitsu Association invited by Tarō Okamoto in 1955. At that time, he expressed the machine, matter or competition of lives dynamically with vivid colors. After withdrawing Nikakai Association in 1959, his expression research was changed from living things into matters. At the exhibition in National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo (1961), he exhibited abstract collage made of button, razor blade and newspaper. With a goal 'Nothing painted, not created but something pointing to an existence and different with existing painting', Yoshinaka's critical mind was even advanced.
Even though it exists in Neo-Dadaism expression, his collage work with stock and property columns was very unusual, so that conspicuous in art history. Unlike other Japanese artists, Yoshinaka learnt expression methods of expression in order to face with consciousness of the society or art constantly.
Focusing on works in 1960-1980, the exhibition will be where explores Yoshinaka's trace of change and the changes of the times.
