Dot Dot Dot Dot Dot
by IT Park Gallery & Photo Studio
Location: IT Park Gallery & Photo Studio
Artist(s): HSIAO Chu-Fang
Date: 20 Apr - 18 May 2013

IT Park Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Taiwanese artist Hsiao Chu-Fang, featuring some of her recent works.

Artist Statment:

Except for "stop", "remaining", Dot also means "amusing people by words or behaviors", or "diverting oneself in euthymia". I assign Dots to words by means of presenting words interlacing with a succession of Dots in my work "There Are Dot Dot Dot Above My Head". The meaning of the topic is included in the work: the succession of the "dots" becomes an atmosphere of The Moment. The succession seems to be meaningless, but it indeed expresses meanings in a very implicit way. Such "sub-meaning" is what I try to express through my work.

Currently I have been frequently moving and changing my living and creating environment between Taipei and Tainan. For me, the high frequency of going back and forth detaches me from the process of travelling and my perception of time. The very experience and feeling incites me to leave a trace of my creating process in the work.

In recent years I have been trying to erase brush strokes of painting, expressing my artistic works with a simple way. I also manage to forge skills of acrylic flat and ways of preventing paint permeate through the film, as if a passion for cleanliness. In the past few months, I have more expectations of the content and the form to my future works due to the qualitative change of my creating environment. Hopefully by this exhibition I could have an introspection of my understanding toward life and creation.
