Li Chen’s inspiration comes from the nature; his works respond to the constant transformation of life. The artist once said, “It’s a “bodily” evolution. As I work through every stage, I want to stop. Yet, I chose to follow the vicissitude and allow the mark of spirit to remain. They have recorded the beginning of the “immortality”.” People have gotten used to seeing the completeness of appearance and have neglected the beauty of imperfection which always exists, such as the historic monuments. The glamour of its old time might have vanished, but its spirit and marks of history become what we appreciate. No matter it is considered “dead” or “alive”, Li Chen’s works delivers an indestructible spirit and a sense of history.
