Yoshimi Arts is pleased to present the solo exhibition "Sosei" by Shiho Yamamoto.
Shiho Yamamoto has been consistently investigating the various relationships between humans and plants, examining the analogy and relationship between them that has our shared evolution for our long history on this planet Earth from a biological point of view. She marvels at how humans and plants have retained their beautiful shapes even after such a process of changing themselves to suit environmental changes and adapt themselves to survive. Also in how plants will grow on buildings artificially created for human survival, sprouting out through cracks on the asphalt and concrete pavement, proving that they are trying to coexist with humans in an environment that is so different to their original nature. Shiho Yamamoto observes that both humans and plants have adjusted themselves in biological ways to thrive in their changing environments, and draws anthropomorphic and figurative images combining plants with humans, in terms of life living within a harsh society.
In this exhibition, she will present new works of art under the concept of “cycle” and “recurrence”.
