Erika Masuya has carried out various projects in various places, and announced video installation of them. Including the solo exhibition 'For the Sake of the Moment!!' at Kodama Gallery Kyoto in 2011 and participation in The Setouchi Triennale 2013, Masuya has developed announcement of production actively.
In the new exhibition, 'Causing smoke,' yet-untitled project at Motosuka beach in Chiba, and 'Stereamer Mixer,' installation using a wheel brush for vehicle washing installation, will be showed. It starts from rising artificial pink smoke on sandy beach. Unlike original plan, smoke randomly rises as time difference of fire. However, in such situation without tension, mis match between the situation and landscape, a strange truth are showed on the video. And then, there is 'Stereamer Mixer' is developed on the same position of another project. The wheeling brush from the bottom bothers the viewers' movements and facilities. While video installation represents certain place and time where the project was developed, 'Streamer Mixer' strongly reveals 'present' and 'here. Sense of reality in this device produces catalyst for people's imagination, and the rotating brush and raising smoke become correlated.
