Y artist project 2
by Daegu Art Museum
Location: Daegu Art Museum
Artist(s): Hye-In LEE
Date: 15 Oct 2013 - 9 Feb 2014

Discovering talented young artists and supporting them are the critical duties among the many roles of art museum. Daegu Art Museum organized the ‘Y artist Project’ to harvest global emerging artists along with providing promotional opportunities for them to communicate and exchange in connection with art professionals and major institutions. LEE Hyein is the 2012 Y artist Project’s second artist.

Now that I think about it the empty hole was becoming a passage, as it appeared often in my paintings as a shape visualized as darkness, connecting my paintings to one another. Is it impossible to stack brushwork and time to paint something but not paint something specific, to paint the space of memory which does not exist in reality, or to express the invisible forces that push away my abandoned self and other beings in the paintings? It is my hope that my paintings of everything in the world that is being dissembled will not be limited to the shell or image of the paintings, but meet with real time-space as they appear to individual viewers as live experiences.
- LEE Hyein
