Leeahn Gallery is pleased to introduce Jeong Hwa Choi, the representative installation artist in Korean contemporary art and icon of Korean pop art in 1990s. This is the first solo exhibition at commercial gallery to introduce his art works variously including new ones as well as major ones and site installation project.
Jeong Hwa Choi has led Korean pop art in 1990s through unique and diverse works with Lee Bul, Kim Bum and Yiso Parc. As a part of the generation going through rapid modernization and economic growth, he has covered mass production and materialism, consumer culture, natural and artificial thing and original and reproduction in humorous attitude and belief. From household goods to copies of monumental installation with plastic, his works tell own language of art as crossing arts, graphic design, industrial design and architecture.
The new exhibition 'Live Live' introduces plastic installations in the basement and new works 'a temple of the century' created for this exhibition on the second floor. Also, site installation 'town project' is a chance to experience his art world intimately as following a trace of the artist's inspiration and labour. This will show unique analysis on a place and space beyond the limited space, gallery.
