TS1 is an art organisation that encourages contemporary art in all forms and serves as anart hub for artists and art lovers. In order to promote contemporary art innovations to a large public, TS1 has chosen two of Beijing’s most cutting-edge and dynamic art places: the Songzhuang artists’ village and the 798 art district.Today, TS1 represents 8 Chinese artists. The gallery produces an extensive range of catalogues to accompany its monographic and group shows. TS1 has also participated in prestigious art fairs such as Art Beijing and ShContemporary.

Because of its commitment to attract as much public interest as possible in contemporary art, TS1 aims to spread its activities abroad and to develop art exchanges and art shows in other Chinese cities, such as Qingdao and Chengdu.

Last April 2007 Beijing TS1 gallery opened in the 798 art district, the core of Beijing's booming art scene. Designed in the 1950's by East Germans in the Bauhaus-style, the 798 Art District was originally an industrial zone. Now the huge converted factory spaces have become China's most important showcase for contemporary art.

The TS1 gallery boasts a 425 sq metre space with two exhibition floors, as well as one of 798 art district's largest exhibition walls of 18 m width and 12 m high.

Every month TS1 gallery is proud to present a selection of significant free thinking work, using every medium from painting to performance, installation to video.
