MIRIAM VLAMING (born 1971) belongs to the most unique and distinctive voices of the Leipziger Schule of the last decade. Almost like an alchemist she is experimenting with pigments and techniques, permanently washing the canvas to reach a "realistic rendering by redeeming transfiguration." (M. V.)
She tries to overstretch her figurative compositions up to the borderlines of abstraction. Individuals seem to rise below muddy water surfaces or connate with nature to appear like vegetation. Symptoms of civilization melt likewise with liquid northern lights. Numerous motifs actually appear like fantastic emergences though rooted in our experience - once more proving that Miriam Vlaming often works after photographic templates.
During her first solo-exhibition in China Every Single Day the Berlin/Germany based Dutch artist mostly presents daily situations with this years large scale works like children going to school or scenes on a market place.
In Europe Miriam Vlaming had important solo-exhibitions such as at Kunsthalle Mannheim (You Promised Me, 2008) and joint several group exhibitions like currently with Silent Revolution at Kerava Art Museum, Helsinki, Finland.
Mr. Rudolf S. Bekink, Netherlands Ambassador to the Republic of China will open the exhibition.
