Founded in 1994 in Tokyo by MIZUMA Sueo, Mizuma Art Gallery has established reputation for its engagement in showing emerging Japanese artists of our time. Mizuma Art Gallery represents the world some of the most innovative artists from Japan and the rest of Asia among them AIDA Makoto, KONOIKE Tomoko, YAMAGUCHI Akira, Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba and TENMYOUYA Hisashi.

Under the partnership with SOGA Kiyomi, an entrepreneur and art collector from Tokyo, Mizuma and One Gallery was established in Beijing in April 2008 as the sister gallery of Mizuma Art Gallery.  Located in the heart of the Caochangdi district which houses the most avant-garde galleries and artists' studios in Beijing, Mizuma and One Gallery will form an important platform from which to launch new Japanese artists onto the international stage, and likewise talented artists from elsewhere, too.

The Gallery is located in a gallery and studio complex designed by Chinese artist and architect Ai Weiwei. With an exterior of grey brick, the gallery has an area of roughly 500 square meters and ceilings 6 meters high.

The Gallery supports artists who are working in various media, with experimental approaches, and in their complex ideas to foster creativities of our time and to open discourse beyond boundaries.
