Hanart TZ Gallery is proud to present Wu Shanzhuan, one of the most influential conceptual artists from the ’85 New Wave Art Movement, in “SMS and its Enemy by Wu Shanzhuan” as our re-opening show that leads to a new chapter for us. In this exhibition, Wu will share with us for the first time his “SMS & its Enemy” which consists of 101 pieces of drawings created between 2000 and 2005 and also a collaborative work “Fielding” (2011) with Inga Svala Thórsdóttir, a triptych with the notion of perspective and projection, ‘Perfect Brackets’ within a rectangle.
Wu’s investigations of art and the role of the artist reflect a persistent concern with ontological issues of art. Since 1986, his “Red Humour” series (1986), “Red Humour International” series (1990), “Tourist Information” series (1992), and years of intensive research in co-operation with Inga Svala Thórsdóttir since 1993, all reflect this process of contemplation and questioning.
