Special Feature: Chow Chun Fai’s Painting on Movie
"Sometimes, we do remember a film because of a particular line in the script, which might still tug at our heartstrings after all these years." Chow Chun Fai, the young and promising Hong Kong artist has therefore used his sophisticated brushwork to capture the classic dialogues and expressions found in local films made during the 80s and 08. Those spectacular moments were effectively frozen on the canvas. In order to elicit the cinematic effect, this exhibition will feature Chow’s works in rotating light boxes. In particular, there will be a screening of his most celebrated 3-minute video Repainting "Infernal Affairs". The audience may recollect some well-remembered lines in over 20 local films of the last 3 decades.
Artworks include:
All for the Winner (1990) – “You use RMB in a vending machine in Hong Kong? Are you crazy?”, 2008
Days of Being Wild (1991) – “With life, one has to be determined”, 2007
Election (2000) – “100 years earlier than the election of the HK Chief Executive”, 2008
