The creation of 3812 was formed by such a moment in time that for Calvin Hui is a lifetime memory. In the winter of 2009-2010 Calvin stood with friends precariously upon a ridge of ice staring down at the magnificent Vallée Blanche (The White Valley), 3812 metres above sea level. To ski there in the shadow of Mont Blanc was like stepping into a beautiful painting where ski turns carving in the snow left a signature as a painter leaves his brush strokes upon a canvas. Captivated by this moment in time, as Calvin skied at the height of 3812 metres, he saw a new horizon and a fresh perspective, and he chose to pursue a new chapter in his life and 3812 was born.

3812’s mission is to find and actively promote artists who have the potential to develop in the long term, without being carried away by the market trends. 3812 serves as a platform for collectors to appreciate contemporary art as well as inspire artists, galleries and collectors to think about the outlook and development of contemporary art, particularly in Asia. We aspire to continue introducing works by the artists for the long term to share their growth and development.
