The Pineapple Underground Film Festival is dedicated to film makers and visual artists to showcase the independent spirit and passion of their work. One of the missions of this festival is not merely screening the films but we aim to invite the audience to take an active part in the festival; film critics, film directors, art space curators and the general public will be invited to selected screenings with an aim to discover and acknowledge talents and collaborations.

The Pineapple Underground Film Festival will be held at EXPERIMENTA , a non-profit contemporary art space located in a young and hip neighbourhood in Hong Kong. EXPERIMENTA have been supporting visual artists and film makers in Hong Kong for the past three years. The Pineapple Underground Film Festival debuts in 2011 and hopes to attract artists in Hong Kong and around the world to showcase their work with the community with a view to generating new audiences. Up to three selected filmmakers will be invited to Hong Kong during that weekend to meet with other filmmakers in the festival.

No-Budget Features : feature films of between 40 to 150 minutes with a budget of less than USD 100,000

All films in a language other than English must be subtitled or dubbed in English unless dialogue is not essential to comprehension and appreciation.

Entrants are responsible for securing all necessary rights and permissions for the Festival’s exhibition of each film submitted and use of all accompanying materials.

Screening starts immediately after opening party at 6-9pm.
