Echo of Nature
by Sin Sin Fine Art
Location: Sin Sin Annex
Artist(s): Youri LEROUX, Antoinette ROZAN
Date: 22 Apr - 12 May 2010

Sin Sin Fine Art is pleased to present “Echo of Nature”, a duet exhibition of the two contemporary French artists, Antoinette Rozan and Youri Leroux, from 22 April to 12 May 2010. Both inspired by the various moments in life, these two French artists meet again after two years in expression of the common theme of “nature” with their own specialty medium – clay and bronze sculptures, and mixed media on canvas.

Born in 1972, Youri Leroux is a French painter characterized by his reserve, his typical northern France inwardness and his sentimental attachment to his family and origin.  With an interest to apprehend the matter, Youri works on successive layers of muted colors and material, then scraps and scratches it in order to reveal the bottom layers, forming rhythm and contrast. With his home studio overlooking green pastures, Youri’s work revolves around the few main themes of nudes, landscapes, flowers and cows, where he finds joy in juggling between the figurative and the abstract. “A big canvas provides a living support for the symbolic language of my paintings, and it allows me to burst my inner energy into my work… I can’t wait to be back in my studio!”

A French sculptress born in 1970, Antoinette Rozan is the fifth generation of a family with a long artistic history, alongside painters, architects and engravers. Antoinette’s sculptures encompass strong emotions and deliver messages of the sheer essence of life, its vitality and its youthful energy from within. As opposed to the heaviness of the medium, her sculptures possess a vibrant lightness, reflecting a free spirit of love and joy for life and for nature. “The moment I touch clay, I feel alive… I discovered a rare and precious means of expressing my deep-rooted passion for life.”

By the delightful coincidence of having “nature” as their recent art theme, the sculptures of Antoinette Rozan and the paintings of Youri Leroux together create a sensational “echo”, one which expresses the essence of life while at the same time depicting an intimate dialogue between art and nature. In these new series of works, both artists display their dedication and devotion to art, as well as to all that comes along in life - be it light or shadows, emptiness or fullness.
