Irina Kotova and Anna Berezovskaya are both established Russian artists with amazing techniques and distinct personal style, leaders in Russia’s contemporary art world enjoying world recognition. While each of Irina’s artworks embodies the folk art tradition, Anna impresses the viewers with meticulous detail and dream-like texture in her paintings.
Being born in Zagorsk, a famous city for its rich cultural and architectural heritage, Irina is inspired by different old Masters, which influenced the development of her very own signature artistic style. She inherited the ornamental nature from traditional folk art and she often adopts the cross composition in her paintings that was widely espoused by Suprematists in 1910-1930s. Her subjects vary from the daily life of ordinary people to mythical Goddesses. She gives a delicate illustration of day-to-day activities and objects. Irina demonstrates to the viewer fascinating folklores that do not end.
To date, the artworks of Irina are collected in France, Germany, USA, Japan, Korea, Russia and Hong Kong.
Anna refers her style as poetic realism while art critics comment her as a frontrunner of magical realism. Her paintings most often display what she has seen in real life and in her dreams, which sometimes is more real to her than present reality. In almost all of her paintings she depicts herself, her own world full of beautiful images with symbolic content. She varies her techniques and approaches within one painting, which testifies to the diversity of her talent, combining hyper-realistic depiction of her subjects with complex layers of light and colour and decorative elements. This gives the viewer a strong experience of surrealism and deep appreciation of romantic-spiritual beauty.
Anna Berezovskaya has exhibited her artworks in solo and group exhibitions around the world. Her artworks are highly sought after and grace private collections of discerned art collectors and art investors in Russia, USA, France, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Singapore and Hong Kong.
