Otto Schade – or “Osch” as he is widely known – debuts in Hong Kong in August with a stunning exhibition of 21 new paintings. Osch is highly acclaimed in London where he lives and works, with collectors of his paintings including Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha, model Naomi Campbell, celebrity Chef Jamie Oliver, and rocker Brian May of the “Queen”.
Osch is an artist, urban sculptor, award-winning architect and university lecturer in architecture. He left his home in Chile to pursue his passion for art, and ultimately to show his work throughout Europe. Since 1996, Osch has exhibited in collections and solo shows in Chile, Germany, the USA, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Russia and France.
His Hong Kong debut exhibition includes two series of work: “Orb”, which explores the juxtaposition of evil (expressed as war) and good (the innocence of children); and “Ribbon,” which gently pokes fun at contemporary themes using a ribbon motif.
Osch has a fascination for the Surrealists, and enjoys the freedom which surrounds abstract painting. He is inspired by Max Ernst, Roberto Matta, Salvador Dali and MC Escher, amongst others.
