Takenori Fukaumi was born in 1975 and graduated from Tokyo National University of the Arts.
Fukaumi mostly paints his mother in her childhood, his wife and a child, to express warm scenries that connect to everyone. At the same time he catches and paints moments of lives that could get better or get worse, that is, destinies existing on the transient balance between sanity and insanity. In spite of the soft and illustrative images, the paintings are consisted of surprisingly rough and strong brush strokes.
In his latest paintings, Fukaumi describes his families lit by a various source of lights such as subtle flares of candles, spotlights on a stage, implying the fact that nobody is able to predict someone's lives to either burn bright or fade in future. In addition to the new series, more than 10 representative works of the artist are to be shown for the first time at "Waiting room".
"This room should be a waiting room. It is in the underground.
Now It is so dark that I cannot see anything, but I will find out as time passes.
Now I am just waiting for you. Without having you, nothing will start.
Now I am just looking at what I think ourselves. The eyes should be all widely opened.
Now we are just waiting for you to visit. "
