In Object Fantasy, artist Ting-Ting Cheng used photography, objects and language to examine the concept of foreignness and identity. As an outsider living abroad, Cheng is interested in culture barriers, communication errors and national stereotypes that arise between outsiders and local residents. In her works, objects and language symbolize identity, projecting the ambiguity between familiar and unfamiliar, as well as the distance and exoticism created by the phenomenon of foreign culture.
