by L-Art Gallery
Location: Booth 3D22 & Insights, HKCEC, Wanchai, Hong Kong
Artist(s): XU Bacheng
Date: 15 May - 18 May 2014

L-Art Gallery joins 2014 Art Basel Hong Kong this year for the first time since its open in 2011. For the INSIGHTS sector in this art fair, L-Art Gallery will present the artist Xu Bacheng’s solo project. Titled as A Rabbit's Walking Project in Europe, audiences will interestingly find out the variety of the artist’s creation including his paintings, installations and video works.

The project, A Rabbit’s Walking Project in Europe, aims to present artist’s conversion of the scale of space into the length of the time. The traces of humanity have been left in Xu Bacheng’s Walking Project in Europe and Asia, and these traces try to investigate the differences embedded in different territories, population, economy, geographical cultures and geopolitics. The artist then integrates these traces into the installation, which is consisted of miniature buildings. Although the architectural style comes from Europe, the manner and the state that Xu creates these works is just like a Chinese Confucian practice, slowly and gradually building up his huge gallery space following his own schedule and task. Xu Bacheng aims to integrate the trace and progress of art-making into his daily life and to solid the sense of time into his works.
