The departure point of Nguyen The Dung's paintings is a realistic description yet his style transforms into surrealism and, to some extent, into pop-art. Dung possesses an ucommon palette in which the hues and tones seem like an echo of a remote place and time in pale purple, light pink, ochre, grey - all invoking nostalgia, anxiety and regret." Born in 1985 Nguyen The Dung - an emerging artist from Vietnam - is a graduate of Vietnam University of Fine Arts in Hanoi where he got his Bachelor's degree and is currently undergoing a master course in painting.
By now Nguyen The Dung has quite an impressive record of exhibitions his artworks have been part of. Among those two solo shows - "Nguyen The Dung Oxen-Human Beings" , Viet Art Center, Hanoi, 2012; "A Herd of Unidentified Cows", Cactus Contemporary Art gallery, 2011 and a number of group exhibitions, including "Viet-Laos", Hanoi, 2013; "Asia Contemporary Art", Hong Kong, 2013; Exhibition in Dogma Collection, Vietnam Fine Art Museum, 2012; The National Festival for Young Artists, Vietnam Fine Art Museum, 2012; Printing and Painting international exhibition, Bangkok.
