100 Tonson Gallery will complete 2009 with a mixed media exhibition LÁ/PAS LÁ  (Here/Not Here),  which is the first solo show in Asia French-Japanese artist Shunsuke Francois Nanjo,  who defines himself as a multi platform artist.

"La / Pas La is about traces of what has been stigmata of a moment, planned futures and expected realities.  Much of my work as an artist has been in photography, which is all about traces, and it has influenced my creative process in all mediums.  I am interested by how a presence can be expressed within an absence”, and vice-versa.  For example how can I fill and capture the life within an empty room?   Is it possible to reveal the non-existence?  Can I make existing things transparent?  In reality, things do not simply appear or disappear, but rather they change their status regardless of their tangibility.  The statuses 'missing' or 'gone' can differ in meaning and degree depending on the point of view” Artist said.

100 Tonson has selected oustanding emerging young artists of various medium and styles to be our focus for 2009, including Pichaya Khunnawat, Prateep Suthathongthai, Yuree Kensaku, Wit Pimkanchanapong, and now French-Japanese artist Shunsuke Francois Nanjo.  Nanjo was born in Japan, grew up in France and have spent the past 3 years based in Japan, during which time, he actively exhibited globally. 

Multicultural and multilingual, Nanjo represents outstanding young artist from the West as well as the East.  His artworks are non-specific in nationalities but speak the universal language of art both visually and conceptually.  

In this exhibition, he explores the possibilities of 'here/not here' that surround us in the present and give his own answers to the questions that emerge from this contemplation.  The exhibition will be combined with photography, painting, and VDO installation.
