David Zalben approaches his life's work not as a career, but as a way of life, where he lives to inspire and be inspired. He is fascinated with complicated simplicity, and wire as a medium allows him to be clever with just his hands and a pair of pliers. His goal is to make unexpected sculpture that resonates beyond the aesthetic, that might evoke a sense of nostalgia, of innocence, humor or sexuality. And with the wire he can transform verse into a visual art form that speaks of love, pain and a feeling of spiritual growth. His latest works involve creating wire sculptures at public places in Miami Beach aka ‘wire graffiti’ which has generated lots of interest.
