Two cities, two lives…..my seven year residency in Japan was in retrospect a series of moments, photographic stills and glimpses into a culture I kept unravelling-through time spent and discoveries made.

I often felt like I was peering into a keyhole, discovering parts of a puzzle to a story I wanted to reveal more of and knew it must all be part of a much bigger story or picture.

My life now, currently back in my hometown of Melbourne-Australia has brought clarity and focus, with an underlying familiarity and pull towards the aesthetics and influences of Japan.

Over the past few years I have been living with ‘Vertigo’- a condition that often makes you feel like you are ‘in a spin’. This new body of work draws upon nature and life’s various cycles. It’s a marriage of Japanese motifs-from Pop culture to traditional samurai-swords to more abstract colourful sunflower formations.
“Two cities, two lives….a ‘key’ into another life, of another time and another sense of place”.
