Beijing Jihuachunqiu 2009 Autumn Auction--- "Arirang - Contemporary Art of Democratic People's Republic of Korea " had an outstanding result for the first time, and the, the auction rate reached 93.67%. To thank the supports of all collectors, Beijing Jihuachunqiu strengthens its efforts on the collection of North Korean art . It has collected 160 auction works with a academic vision to show the light shine of the North Korean art history, many of which created in 1950s and 1960s have an important place in North Korea art history and own historical value. Part of the works exhibited on the 60th anniversary of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will be also appeared in this auction.

Jeong Gwan Cheol, Ri Seok Ho, Jeong Jong Yeo, Han Sang Ik, Hwang Yeong Jun, and etc. are well-known artists in North Korean with the reputation of People’s Artist or Meritorious Artist. Their works are taken as national treasure in North Korea, and these auctions are more precious.

Democratic People's Republic of Korea resists the impact of materialism, and is committed to create revolutionary art and people’s art with a national form and socialist content. In the1950s, North Korean oil painting, the same as in China, was influenced by traditions of Russian oil painting, and many North Korean artists either pursued advanced studies or taught at Leningrad Repin Academy of Fine Arts in former Soviet Union. Thus, the realistic method to create works continued and created a painting style of their own nation. Art is able to cross national boundaries and national estrangements, and a specific changeable situation of a country could even makes great works of art. North Korean art has been revealed its mysterious veil, and no person can hide or deny her beauty and innocence any longer. Under the special historical background in 1960s and 1970s, many of Chinese most important works flowed out of the country, and we knew far less that values and potentials were hidden in the national contemporary art at that time. Now facing the North Korean Art in which a market price system has not been formed, Beijing Jihuachunqiu Auction believes that collectors in China will not sit by and watch the ignored enormous value of North Korean art.

The auction will be hammered mainly by Chinese famous auctioneer Mr. Zheng Xiaoxing, who is called "the No. one gavel in China,” by the "People’s Daily” and other authoritative media. 2010 Spring Auction (Jihuachunqiu Auction) will be a great feast for collectors.
